So you're knitting a pair of socks and you decide to make individual toes. I've made dozens of pairs of socks and I've wanted the later ones to have individual toes. I always make the same size sock (with different yarn, different gauge, and a different number of stitches each time). But when I want toes, I have to calculate how many stitches to devote to each toe.
